Now that the weather is finally changing for the better, it’s urgent time to talk about the latest fashion trends that seem to pop up on all our social media feeds these days. In this brand new, monthly blog series for Life of an It-girl - How to Wear What - I’m going to show you not only what to wear, but how to wear it. This month it’s all about the major summer shoe trends 2016: pom pom sandals, mules and granny shoes.

First things first, pom pom sandals. With a shoe that screams "I’m here" like no other, its best to not over-style and -accessorise the rest of your look. In order to balance it out, opt for an all-white look and add a bold-colored clutch for example. Another possibility would be to pair it with some jeans and a flirty, off shoulder top. Whether all-white or denim, pom pom sandals can be both chic and casual, depending on how you wear it.

Whether you choose to wear flat or heeled mules, this shoe trend is super versatile. Mules and skirts, mules and culottes, mules and jeans. Basically, mules and everything. What it really comes down to here, is the shoe itself. A bold black mule will look good on monochrome and desaturated looks. A floral mule will be super cute with pastel colours and light fabrics.

I’m sure some of you will be shaking their heads now, but granny shoes are a major trend this season. The nice thing about fashion is, though, that you do not need to go with the flow, unless you want to. Take trends as an inspiration, not an obligatory criteria to stylish outfits. This leaves us with the question, how to style granny shoes and make them look cute? The answer is simple, a dress, a tailored suit or even a pair of blue jeans and voilà, here goes the cute granny style. PS: the key to granny shoes are soft colors and femininity!
